Bird Watch Ireland
A survey of the island discovered 20 nests on the island all with eggs but one at the start of hatching. A Black Headed Gull BHG nesting. After a few hours there were chicks in 3 of the nests. Of the ten adults, six had previously been ringed – one at a roost in Lough Beg 2013 was at least in its third year. Two at Ringaskiddy Port in 2016 and 2017 also at least 3rd year; two at Ringaskiddy 2011 were nestlings and the last was a 2018 Ringaskiddy nestling.
